Tips For Insurance
At Proposal Stage:
Give correct and complete info in the proposal form to avoid any complication. Furnish your Service Number correctly and legibly.

Take Policy according to the saving capacity now and in the next five years. Opt for a convertible Policy if the present saving capacity is low, but it is likely to increase after five years.

Plan policies in such a manner that they would mature at periods when there will be a need for lump sum amounts.

Furnish proper and correct nomination for quick settlement of claims. If the nominee is a minor, furnish particulars of appointee for easy settlement of claims arising during the minority of the nominee.

See that the recovery of PLI premium has been reflected in the monthly/ quarterly/ halfyearly statement of accounts. Risk cover commences only on recovery/ payment of first premium. Ensure continued recovery/ payment of premium regularly. Report irregular/ short/ excess recovery to PLI cell/ PAO concerned.

In all correspondence, please quote the Proposal case mark given in the Acceptance Memo and Service Number till receipt of Policy Document.
After Taking Policy:

Quote Policy No., Service/ Regimental No., Name of Unit in all correspondence and address them to The Director APS (PLI), Office of Addl Directorate General APS, C/o 56 APO.

Ensure safe custody of Policy Document. 

Get any assignment of Policy made by you registered with Addl Directorate General APS (PLI Cell) to avoid legal complications.

Change nomination of NOK on getting married/ death of original nominee for quick settlement of claims.

Intimate change of address promptly to the Addl Directorate General APS (PLI Cell) quoting policy numbers and the service number.

To take a loan, send the original policy document and loan application to Addl Directorate General APS (PLI Cell). Assign the policy to President of India.

Send the original policy document and claim application direct to the Addl Directorate General APS (PLI Cell) six months in advance of the date of maturity to enable to arrange payment by due date.

Payment can be made by cheque or in cash through any post office in India including a FPO.

Documents Required For Settlement of Claims:
The following documents are to be sent to the Addl Directorate General of APS for processing various claims
Maturity Claim:.

Claim Application in Form LI 9(b) duly countersigned by OC Unit.

Original Policy Document.


Death Claim:

Claim Application in Form LI 9 from the nominee countersigned by the postmaster of the area or APS authorities or CO of the last Unit of the Insured.

Original Policy Document.

Death Certificate (Original or attested copy).


Loan:

Loan Application in Form LI 35.

Original Policy Document with dated signature on back side.

Assignment form duely signed by lonee and witness signature and his full address.
Dos and Don'ts:
Do nominate your NOK for easy settlement of claims.

Do revise nomination after marriage/ death of original nominee.

Do intimate your latest address/ change in permanent address to The Director APS (PLI), Office of Addl Directorate General APS, C/o 56 APO.

Do check your pay slips/ statement of accounts to ensure regular recovery of premium.

Do intimate the APS authorities regarding loss of Policy Document.

Do apply for transfer of Policy if proceeding on discharge/ retirement before policy matures.

Do apply for maturity claims in time.

Don't make your NOK run around for getting PLI benefits for want of your proper nomination.

Don't make anyone other than wife a nominee in case you are married. Don't forget to change nomination to your wife after marriage.

Don't forget to update your address particulars with Addl Dte Gen. APS (PLI Cell).

Don't permit PAO to stop recovery of premium during currency period of Policy without intervention of APS authorities.

Don't allow Policy Document to be mutilated/ lost.
